Dr. Creflo Dollar Said to His Church Family and Evangelical Christians Worldwide Who Follow Him, “…I will say that I have no shame at all at saying to you THROW AWAY EVERY BOOK, EVERY TAPE, AND EVERY VIDEO I EVER DID ON THE SUBJECT OF TITHING, Unless it lines up with this [the Bible]. I’VE DONE SOME CORRECTIVE TEACHING IN THE LAST TEN YEARS, but not to the degree of what we’re getting ready to do now.” — Daniel Whyte III Says That Lost People of the World and Unspiritual Christians Who Do Not Understand How God Works in a Preacher’s Heart, Mind, and Soul Who is Truly Saved Are Going to Mock Creflo Dollar, But God’s Truly Saved Preachers and People Are Going to Rejoice That This Man of God is Taking Heed to the Rebuke and Chastisement of the Lord by Humbling Himself and Admitting That he Was Wrong and Doing What all Truly Born-Again Christians End up Doing in Their Lives and that is Become TRANSPARENT and Let the Chips Fall Where They May and Say That I Would Rather be Right With God in my Heart, Mind, Soul, Spirit and Conscience Than to Walk in my Foolish Pride Deceiving Myself and the People and Distracting People From Christ.

US megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar has publically denounced all the teachings he’s done on the topic of tithing.

Dollar, who leads World Changes International Ministries in College Park, Georgia, told his congregation in a 26th June sermon that what he’s preached about tithing for many years was incorrect.

In the sermon named ‘The Great Misunderstanding’, he started off by saying: “I want to start off by saying to you that I’m still growing. And that the teachings that I’ve shared in times past on the subject of tithing, were not correct. And today I stand in, and humility, to correct some things that I’ve taught for years and believed for years, but could never under understand it clearly, because I had not yet been confronted with the gospel of grace, which has made the difference.”

Pastor Dollar specifically said he won’t apologise for his teachings, because otherwise he wouldn’t have learnt his lesson.

But he directed his congregation to take action.

Iconic actor and retired wrestler Mr. T delivered a heartfelt message Monday in celebration of July 4, expressing gratitude for America and reminding fellow citizens to unite in prayer.

“Happy Birthday America and Happy Independence Day! The Land of the Free and home of the Brave. The Red, the White, and the Blue. In God we Trust!” he wrote on Twitter.

Mr. T, whose birth name is Lawrence Tureaud, added, “We the people; together we stand, divided we fall! Black and white together, we shall overcome some day! The Nation that prays together, stays together!”

The performer also sent a third tweet expressing his love for the U.S. and his gratitude for being an American citizen.

Mr. T’s social media praise for America came at the same time other celebrities took aim at America and their perceived loss of rights following the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion across the nation.

From actors and singers to TV hosts and commentators, some celebrities issued harsh rebukes.

Pop star Katy Perry, who famously grew up in a Christian home before entering the secular music arena, charged in a Twitter post that women in America “have fewer rights than an actual sparkler,” referencing her song “Firework” in the message.

Other celebrities joined in with similar messages.

Singer and actress Bette Midler shared a meme proclaiming Independence Day has been canceled due to a purported lack of women’s rights.

“[Fourth] of July has been canceled due to a shortage of Independence. Sincerely, Women,” the image read.

“Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi went even further, proclaiming there’s nothing to celebrate on July 4.

“Not much to celebrate this 4th, I’m afraid. Let’s just hope everyone can keep safe and peaceful today and that soon our nation veers away from this precipice,” she tweeted. “No matter what, we’ll keep fighting for the day where all humans have the same rights, at least of their own person and body, have privacy to make their own choices and to love whom they love and live in peace.”

She then shared the photo of a red, white, and blue cake that included the words, “Separate church and state.”

These reactions, which are tied to the overturning of Roe, were certainly balanced quite fervently by millions of Americans — like Mr. T — who shared favorable statements of hope and gratitude in honor of the nation and to pay homage to the sacrifices so many have made to protect and serve the U.S.

Danish Evangelist Torben Søndergaard, Who Came to America Seeking Asylum, Has Been Arrested on Suspicions of Weapon Smuggling

Torben Søndergaard, a Danish evangelist and founder of a ministry called The Last Reformation, says he is being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for suspicion of “smuggling weapons from Mexico to America.”

The 45-year-old Søndergaard says he is being held in isolation at ICE’s Baker County Detention Center, a medium-security detention center located in MacClenny, Florida.

On his Facebook page, Torben writes, “This Thursday, I was invited to a meeting with Homeland Security who wanted to talk about my asylum case – a case where I, in Denmark three years ago, was accused of doing many things I had not done, and where I ended up fleeing to America seeking asylum. But then, they suddenly said that the real reason I was there was because they had been notified that I was smuggling weapons from Mexico to America, and I was in shock.”

He added, “I have been staying in California with my wife and kids and we have just finished up a Bible school over the border in Mexico, where many of our helpers traveled from Mexico to America several times a week, but NONE of them were smuggling weapons, and I have NEVER had anything to do with smuggling weapons. I know NOTHING about smuggling weapons.”

Søndergaard says he was “Put up against the wall, put in handcuffs, and led into a room. Later I was put in handcuffs again on my hands and on my feet…”

The Department of Homeland Security has not responded to our request for more information about the arrest.

Søndergaard’s The Last Reformation is a worldwide movement which seeks to return Christianity to the Book of Acts. He also began the Jesus Center in Denmark, which trained disciples from 30 nations to spread this message around the world.

Facing persecution in Denmark and possible arrest, Søndergaard and his family fled with only their suitcases and sought political asylum in the United States in 2019.

Dr. Tony Evans Says Racial Division Stems From ‘Failure of the Pulpit’ and the Church Must ‘Lead the Way’ as Solution

Tony Evans, the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Church, said that because the Church instigated the problem of racism in the United States, it’s up to the Body of Christ to serve as the solution.

During a segment titled “Jesus the Center of Racial Reconciliation: Adopting a Kingdom Race Mindset” during the morning session of the second day of the 2022 Southern Baptist Convention’s Annual Meeting in June, Evans cited 2 Chronicles 15:2 to explain the unrest seen across the nation.

“When it comes to our racial divide, it was the failure of the pulpit and the failure of the Church which has put us in this ignominious situation today,” Evans said. “And we are told in 2 Chronicles that only when they came together in unity did God bring them rest, verse 15 says, to the distress that was in the land.

Judge Rules Against the University of Idaho for Punishing Christian Students for Opposing Homosexual Marriage

A federal judge has ordered the University of Idaho to rescind no-contact orders issued against three evangelical Christian law students who shared their religious views with another student.

Peter Perlot, Mark Miller and Ryan Alexander — members of the law school’s Christian Legal Society chapter — are “free to speak in a manner consistent with their religious beliefs” as a lawsuit against university President C. Scott Green and three other school officials progresses, an announcement from the Alliance Defending Freedom stated.

The public-interest law firm represents the three students, who sued the University of Idaho administrators in April after the no-contact orders were issued against them and subsequently against law professor Richard Seamon, faculty adviser to the school’s Christian Legal Society chapter.

The dustup at the university’s law school stems from an April 1 “moment of community” where students, faculty and staff gathered in front of the Moscow, Idaho, campus after an anti-LGBTQ+ slur was found on a whiteboard at the university’s Boise campus. The Christian Legal Society members were present and prayed “in a showing of support,” the order from federal Chief District Judge David C. Nye says.

After the prayer, “Jane Doe,” identified in the opinion as “a queer female and a law student at the University of Idaho School of Law,” approached the society members and asked why the group requires its officers to affirm marriage as being between one man and one woman.

Mr. Miller “respectfully explained” the requirement exists because chapter members believe it is the only position “affirmed in the Bible,” according to an ADF statement. Ms. Doe, the court order noted, “expressed her opinion that the Bible did not support such a conclusion.”

Later, Mr. Perlot left a note for Ms. Doe, saying, “I’m the president of CLS this semester. Feel free to come talk to me if you have anything you need to say or questions you want to ask” and let her know where he could be found.

That encounter was followed a few days later by a public denunciation of the group during an American Bar Association panel discussion at the school. Mr. Alexander, who was at the event, said Ms. Doe’s characterizations of the group were inaccurate. That led to the no-contact orders, which the three students said were issued without an opportunity to defend themselves.

Miles G. McPherson on This July Fourth, Remember the Victims of Sex Trafficking

WASHINGTON, DC – JULY 04: Atmosphere at A Capitol Fourth 2015 Independence Day concert at the U.S. Capitol, West Lawn on July 4, 2015 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Paul Morigi/Getty Images for Capitol Concerts)

If you have ever been around my home city of San Diego on the July 4th, you know that the firework show over the bay is absolutely epic. The “Big Bay Boom” lives up to its name, with at least four firework displays occurring in harmony across the city. Each year, this loud display lights up the night sky, inviting everyone in the United States to reflect on freedom.

And this always gets me thinking. What are the firework displays in my life?

As Christians, we have been set free. John 8:36 tells us that whoever the Son sets free, is free indeed. And if we are truly free, our lives should loudly declare it. Not through grand displays of self-righteous behavior or a “look at me” attitude, but through serving one another. Check out Galatians 5:13:

GALLUP POLL SHAKES UP AMERICA–ONLY 38% ARE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN TODAY. DANIEL WHYTE III, WHO, LORD WILLING, WILL BE PREACHING ON THE 4TH of JULY AT 7:00 PM EST/6:00 PM CTR, AND 4:00 PM PACIFIC, A MESSAGE TITLED: “THE REASONS WHY WE STILL LOVE AMERICA, BUT WE DON’T LIKE HER AS MUCH AS WE USED TO” SAYS, THE REASON WHY AMERICA HAS LOST THE NATURAL AFFECTION OF ITS PEOPLE AND THE RESPECT OF NATIONS AROUND THE WORLD IS BECAUSE OF GOD’S PEOPLE — SO-CALLED EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS, ESPECIALLY PASTORS, WHO HAVE FAILED GOD, JESUS CHRIST, AMERICA, AND THE WORLD BY COMMITTING GROSS SINS AGAINST GOD ALMIGHTY IN THE CHURCH AND FOOLISHLY THINKING THAT BECAUSE GOD LOVES THEM THEY WILL GET AWAY WITH IT; SUCH SINS AS ADULTERY, DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE, FORNICATION, SHACKING UP, SWINGING, HOMOSEXUALITY, ALLOWING HOMOSEXUALS TO BECOME ACTIVE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH WHEN WE WON’T LET AN ADULTEROUS HETEROSEXUAL BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE CHURCH, AND MANY OTHER SINS WITHOUT REPENTANCE, AND SO, AMERICA LOSING THE NATURAL AFFECTION OF HER OWN PEOPLE AND LOSING THE RESPECT OF NATIONS AROUND THE WORLD IS A PART OF WHAT I HAVE BEEN TELLING YOU OVER THE PAST TWELVE YEARS: GOD IS LOVINGLY, MERCIFULLY, GRACIOUSLY, AND SLOWROLLINGLY DESTROYING AND DISMANTLING AMERICA PIECE BY PIECE, AND THIS IS PART OF HER CATASTROPHIC FALL.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The 38% of U.S. adults who say they are “extremely proud” to be American is the lowest in Gallup’s trend, which began in 2001. Still, together with the 27% who are “very proud,” 65% of U.S. adults express pride in the nation. Another 22% say they are “moderately proud,” while 9% are “only a little” and 4% “not at all” proud.

This record-low level of extreme national pride comes at a challenging time in the U.S. as a pandemic-weary public is struggling with the highest U.S. inflation rate in more than four decades. These data are from a June 1-20 poll that was conducted after mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, claimed 31 lives, including 19 children. Bipartisan gun legislation in response to the shootings was passed shortly after the poll ended. The polling also preceded the U.S. Supreme Court’s highly anticipated and controversial ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

It is possible that these two developments will impact the level of pride Americans feel in their country today. Gallup data show strong public support both for stricter gun laws in the U.S. and for not overturning Roe v. Wade.

While the current 38% expressing extreme pride is the historical low by four percentage points, the combined 65% reading for those who are extremely or very proud was two points lower in 2020 than it is today. The current readings are well below the trend averages of 55% extremely proud and 80% extremely or very proud.

Before 2015, no less than 55% of U.S. adults said they were extremely proud. The highest readings followed the 9/11 terrorist attacks, when patriotism surged in the U.S.

However, extreme national pride in the U.S. has been trending downward since 2015, falling below the majority level in 2018; it is nearly 20 points lower now than it was a decade ago.

6 Dead, 24 Seriously Wounded in Shooting at July 4 Parade in Highland Park, Illinois

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (CBS) — Six people were killed and 24 were seriously wounded when a gunman opened fire from a rooftop during the July 4th parade in north suburban Highland Park on Monday.

Highland Park Police Cmdr. Chris O’Neil said the shooting happened around 10:15 a.m. during the parade.

Police are still searching for the shooter, and are urging people in the area to shelter in place. A rifle was recovered at the scene.

O’Neil said the shooter appears to be a white man, 18 to 20 years old, with long black hair, a small build, and was wearing a white or blue T-shirt.

Lake County Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Chris Covelli confirmed witness reports that the shooter opened fire from the roof of a nearby business.

“By all means, at this point, this appears to be completely random,” Coveilli said.

One witness, Shawn Cotreau, said the shooter was only 10 feet from where shooting happened. He said the gunshots went on for several minutes.

Covelli said hundreds of officers are conducting a search for the shooter, with SWAT teams going door to door. He said there is no indication the gunman has barricaded himself somewhere, or that he is holding any hostages, contrary to some rumors that have circulated since the shooting.

Police and ambulances from several jurisdictions swarmed the area, with several officers carrying rifles. Video from the scene showed people being placed into ambulances.

Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering said the FBI and Illinois State Police are assisting local law enforcement agencies with the investigation. She also urged people to contact their loved ones to make sure they’re safe.

“Our community was terrorized by an act of violence that has shaken us to our core. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims during this devastating time. On a day that we came together to celebrate community and freedom, we’re instead mourning the loss, the tragic loss of life, and struggling with the terror that was brought upon us,” she said.

Covelli urged anyone who might have video from the shooting to contact police to assist with the investigatoin.

Several children took shelter in the basement of a nearby business after the shooting.

Patriotic Displays Are Common in July 4th Church Services; 38% of Pastors Say Their Congregation’s Love for America Sometimes Seems Greater Than Their Love for God

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Protestant pastors say they will worship God and honor America at church services this weekend, and they’re not too worried churchgoers will confuse the two.

Most pastors (56%) say it’s important to incorporate patriotic elements into worship services the week of July 4th to celebrate America, including 27% who strongly agree, according to a Lifeway Research study of 1,000 U.S. Protestant pastors. Two in 5 pastors (42%) disagree, and 2% aren’t sure.

These findings represent a small decrease from a 2016 Lifeway Research study, when 61% of pastors felt such worship service elements were important.

“While not a date on the Christian calendar, most Protestant churches adjust their worship services to acknowledge the birth of the United States each July,” said Scott McConnell, executive director of Lifeway Research. “For most churches, it isn’t just tradition. The majority of pastors agree it’s important to incorporate it into the worship experience.”

Pastors with no college degree (70%) or a bachelor’s degree (67%) are more likely to see elements celebrating America as important than those with a master’s (46%) or doctoral degree (50%).

Evangelical pastors (64%) are more likely than their mainline counterparts (48%) to value timely patriotic elements in the worship service.

Denominationally, Pentecostal pastors (77%) and those at non-denominational churches (70%) are more likely than Methodist (52%), Lutheran (48%), Presbyterian/Reformed (44%) and Restorationist movement pastors (29%) to see value in special Independence Day additions.

Younger pastors, those 18 to 44, are the most likely to say the worship service doesn’t need patriotic additions (65%).

Pope Francis Urges the People and Leaders of the Congo and South Sudan to Work for Peace and Prosperity

ROME (AP) — Pope Francis urged the people and leaders of Congo and South Sudan on Saturday to “turn a page” and forge new paths of reconciliation, peace and development.

Francis issued a video message on the day he had planned to begin a weeklong pilgrimage to the two African countries. He canceled the scheduled trip last month because of knee pain that makes walking and standing difficult.

In the message, Francis said he was “greatly disappointed” to not be able to travel and promised to visit “as soon as possible.”

He urged the people of both countries not to allow themselves to be robbed of hope despite the violence, political instability, exploitation and poverty that he said had pained them for so long.

“You have a great mission, all of you, beginning with your political leaders: It is that of turning a page in order to blaze new trails, new paths of reconciliation and forgiveness, of serene coexistence and of development,” Francis said.

He said political leaders owed the pursuit of such goals to young people who dream of peace “and deserve to see those dreams come true”

“For their sake, above all, it is necessary to lay down arms, to overcome all resentment, and to write new pages of fraternity,” the pope said.

He was joined in issuing separate video messages by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and the moderator of the Church of Scotland, Right Rev. Dr. Iain Greenshields, who were supposed to have accompanied Francis on the South Sudan leg of the trip. In their messages, they expressed disappointment that the visit had to be postponed but urged South Sudanese to nevertheless keep working for peace.

“Peace requires much more than not being at war. It must be created together, with your fellow leaders and even with your enemies,” Welby said in his message. Greenshields urged the South Sudanese to “give expression to Jesus’ words that ‘Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God.’”

While Francis was unable to travel, he is due to celebrate a special Mass at St. Peter’s on Sunday for Rome’s Congolese community. He sent his No. 2, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, to visit both Congo and South Sudan on the days he was supposed to have been there.

The Catholic Church has always played a role in Congo, especially in the establishment of democracy and advocacy for human rights. The church deployed about 40,000 electoral observers in the 2019 election that brought Felix Tshisekedi to the presidency. Tshisekedi, an opposition figure, defeated then President Joseph Kabila’s chosen candidate in what was Congo’s first peaceful, democratic transfer of power since independence from Belgium in 1960.

There were high hopes for peace and stability once South Sudan gained its long-fought independence from Sudan. But it slid into ethnic violence in December 2013. A 2018 peace deal that binds President Salva Kiir and his deputy, Riek Machar, in a unity government encourages authorities to hold elections before February 2023.
