Rise of gangs and anarchy in Haiti leads to another tragic situation and that is gang rape of women and sad to say even of men

Port-au-Prince (AFP) – As the rising power of criminal gangs plunges Haiti deeper into chaos, health care workers are getting overwhelmed by the number of women being raped by these violent groups, and by the sheer horror of the victims’ ordeals.

“Some of the kidnapped women don’t even know how many men raped them,” said Doctor Judith Fadois, who has worked for the past six years at a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) clinic in Port-au-Prince for victims of sexual violence.

“In some cases, I would speak of mutilation, they were treated like objects so much,” the doctor said of the awful things she has seen and heard at the clinic in recent months.

There is already a taboo surrounding sex crimes in this society widely seen as chauvinist, and that makes it hard enough to talk about rape. But the heightened cruelty of Haitian gangs has stunned some of the medical teams beyond words.

In the past two months, as gangs virtually took control of the capital in the wake of the president’s assassination and a years-long social and economic crisis, the staff at the clinic have heard things that the doctor says she “never thought a human being could do to another human being.”

Here We Go – God Forbid: Conservative Baptist Network Calls Out Southern Baptist Seminary Professor and Pastor James Merritt for Promoting Homosexual Son Jonathan Merritt’s Sermon – Daniel Whyte III Tells Pastors…

Here We Go – God Forbid: Conservative Baptist Network Calls Out Southern Baptist Seminary Professor and Pastor James Merritt for Promoting Homosexual Son Jonathan Merritt’s Sermon – Daniel Whyte III Tells Pastors and “Baptist Seminary Professors” and Other So-called Christian Leaders, I Know That You Love Your Children but God Expects You to Not in Any Way Endorse or Support Your Children’s Abominations and Sins. Sad to Say, Because Pastors and Pastor’s Wives and So-called Church Leaders Have Compromised on the Issue of Homosexuality, Including the Once-conservative Evangelicals and the Once-conservative Baptists, Now They Are Compromising Even Further With Their Children Coming Out as Homosexuals and Lesbians in an Attempt to Try to Win Their Children Back to Them and This Is Not the Way to Win Their Children Back. You Have to Understand That You Will Not Win Them Back This Way Because They Have Cast the Word of God Behind Their Backs and Have Chosen to Follow the Devil. In Fact, They Will Run Further Away From You if They See You Compromise With Them and Try to Appease Them. You Have to Stand Against the Devil and Sin and the Abomination of Homosexuality as a Christian and Especially as a Pastor. The Best Way to Love Your Adult Children Who Have Left the Faith Is to Pray for Them. Dr. James Merritt, a Man Whom I Have Respected for Many Years, Should Resign From the Church and Especially From Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary IMMEDIATELY. I Emphasize Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Because He Is Influencing Future Pastors. If Jonathan Merritt Is Still a Member of James Merritt’s Church, He Needs to Be Disciplined Which Means He Needs to Be Put Out of the Church Immediately if He Is Not Going to Repent of His Evil Ways With Fruits of Repentance, For as the Holy Bible Says, “A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.” Also, the Pastor and the Deacons of the Church Ought to Encourage Him to Get Out of the Christian Journalism Space That He Occupies, Because He Is Causing Confusion Among God’s People and Among the Christian Youth Groups of America, as He Is Writing Some Decent “Christian” Articles in a Major Publication and Many People Did Not Know He Was a Homosexual. If He Is Going to Continue Being a Homosexual He Needs to Declare That to the Whole Christian World — I Assume the Whole “gay” World Already Knows About It. Dr. James Merritt Needs to Inform the Whole Christian World as Well, Otherwise, He Would Be in Collusion With His Son in Causing Confusion in the Christian Community and in the Church Across America and Throughout the World. At the Same Time, However, if the Southern Baptist Convention Pastors Are Going to Keep as Southern Baptist President Pastor Ed Litton, Who Became a Puppet for Andy Stanley’s Effort to Promote Homosexuality in the Southern Baptist Convention and the Evangelical Community by Reading Word for Word His Talking Points, Then the Southern Baptist Convention Really Doesn’t Have Any Moral Authority to Tell James Merritt to Do Anything. Besides That, Many in the Southern Baptist Convention Knew About Dr. James Merritt’s Son Being a Homosexual Long Before Now but Chose Not to Say Anything About It. Pastors and Bishops and So-called Church Leaders, Do Not Commit the Tragic Sin of Loving Your Children Too Much. Do Not Compromise the Gospel and the Word of God for Your Children’s Sake. Don’t Try to Make Room for Your Disobedient Abominable Child in the Church and Try to Make Them Accepted in the Beloved When Their Behaviour Is Not Acceptable. All of This Will Only Backfire on You in This Life and in the Life to Come. And Do Not Be Afraid to Tell Them That Even Though You Love Them if They Continue in This Lifestyle of Homosexuality or Lesbianism They Are Going to HELL. Telling Them That Truth and Praying for Them Will Probably Be the Only Way to Get Them Truly Saved and Out of That Demonic and Abominable Lifestyle. And by the Way, Don’t Be Afraid to Tell the People in Your Church Family Who Are Divorced and Remarried Without Biblical Grounds and Are “living in Adultery” That They Are Going to Hell Too if They Did It After They Got Saved and They Knew Better, for as I Have Told You Before, the Divorce and Remarriage and “living in Adultery” Sin Is the Sin That Led the Church to Accept the Abomination of Homosexuality and Lesbianism in the Church. And in Case You’re Wondering, God Forbid, if One of My Seven Children Ever Came Out as a Homosexual or Lesbian, I’m Going to Say the Exact Same Thing That I Am Saying About Dr. Merritt and Jonathan Merritt. And by the Way That Is With the Full Knowledge That Because I Have Preached Hard Against the Abomination of Homosexuality and Lesbianism for Many Years Trying to Save the Church From the Trouble She Is in Now and Trying to Save America From the Trouble She Is in Now, Sad to Say, It Has Been the Evangelical Church and So-called Evangelical Christians Who Have Targeted My Children to Try to Get Them to Believe and Accept That Homosexuality and Lesbianism Is Not a Sin and That Homosexuals and Lesbians Should Be Allowed as Members in the Church and Have Tried to Demonically Turn My Children Against My Preaching That They Have Heard All of Their Lives, but I Have Expected That and I Am Praying for My Children to Stand Against This Sodomite Onslaught of Homosexuality and Lesbianism Sanctioned by the Church and the Government and Because the Church and America Have Sanctioned These Abominations, as I Have Told You Many Times God Is Slowly but Surely Dismantling and Destroying the False Laodicean Church in America and America Herself Which I Have Warned You About for Many Years and by the Grace of God, None of My Words Have Fallen to the Ground.

STATEMENT: Promoting homosexual preachers is not loving, biblical, or Baptist

Nov. 23, 2021

In a social media post, Nov. 22, James Merritt, Southern Baptist pastor and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) visiting professor, promoted a sermon by his son, Jonathan Merritt, a self-described homosexual man.

Scripture is clear that homosexuality is a grave sin (1 Cor. 6:9-10, Rom. 1:24-28), and that sin separates mankind from God (Isaiah 59:2, Rom. 6:23). To present to Southern Baptists a man living in unrepentant sin as someone to whom they should listen for a sermon that is “faithful to the gospel,” as the elder Merritt tweeted, is wholly illogical and demonstrably dangerous. For one who is employed by a Southern Baptist seminary receiving Cooperative Program tithe dollars to promote an unrepentant sinner—no matter whose son he is—as a trustworthy preaching source is a betrayal of trusting Southern Baptists.

The Conservative Baptist Network calls on SEBTS President Danny Akin and the SEBTS board of trustees to give sincere attention to this grievous situation, which counters Southern Baptists’ commitment to Scripture as inerrant, sufficient, and authoritative and opposes the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. The Network further calls on Southern Baptists to pray for the Merritt family in what is a public and certainly painful situation, and specifically for Jonathan Merritt, that the Lord would bring godly sorrow which “produces repentance leading to salvation” (2 Cor. 7:10).

Moreover, while some have accused the Conservative Baptist Network of being divisive for suggesting certain SBC leaders have departed from their biblical beliefs, the unbiblical and divisive promotion of Jonathan Merritt by the most recent chairman of the SBC Committee on Resolutions demonstrates the need for the Network all too clearly. And, as in the case of President Ed Litton’s blatant, serial plagiarism of sermons and even personal experiences, many Convention leaders stand united in silence when the offender is one of their friends.

This growing drift from the guardrails of Scripture and from long-held but increasingly-threatened Baptist distinctives demands reform at the top levels of the SBC and demonstrates yet again the necessity of a Conservative Baptist Network.

The Conservative Baptist Network (CBN) released a statement Wednesday night (Nov. 23) blasting Dr. James Merritt’s endorsement of his son’s recent sermon. Jonathan Merritt identifies as a homosexual. Merritt is a Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) pastor and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) visiting pastor.

Merritt, who is also lead pastor of Cross Pointe Church in Duluth, Georgia, and former SBC President (2000-2002), shared a message with a link on his Twitter account earlier this week (Nov. 22) saying, “Good Shepherd New York • 11.21.21 https://youtu.be/JtZla6bnxn8 via @YouTube I don’t agree with my loved son @JonathanMerritt on everything to be sure. But I encourage you to listen to his message on Mark 13. It is both brilliant and faithful to the gospel and the coming of Jesus!”

CBN wrote on its Twitter page, “Promoting homosexual preachers is not loving, biblical, or Baptist,” then provided a link to the full statement.

Who is Jonathan Merritt?
Jonathan is an award-winning contributor for The Atlantic, author, speaker, and holds a Master of Divinity from SEBTS. On his birthday this year (Aug. 4), Jonathan described himself on his Instagram page as, “a gay man, beloved by God, who has endured the worst the world could throw at him and fought his way to health and wholeness.”

His post recalled a day in 2012 when someone publicly outed his sexual orientation, calling it “painful” and a “betray[al].” Jonathan shared that the trauma resulted in a “boatload of therapy” just to be able to “love the delightful human that God made when God made me.”

According to his post, this is the first time he’s written about his “identity” online because of trauma that left him “bruised and untrusting.” He added that he is “dead dog afraid” to be vulnerable to the public.

Jonathan wrote: “This disconnect between my private and public life has felt unnecessary and unsustainable. I don’t want to live fearful of the opinions of strangers or the venom of bigots.” Wanting to enter the second half of his life with more “authenticity, alignment, and integrity than I exhibited in the first half,” Jonathan said he wants to make clear he’s a gay man who’s beloved by God.

Bullied Black Girl Committed Suicide

“I’m not going to let her name fade,” said Izzy’s mom, Brittany Tichenor-Cox.

Ten-year-old Isabella “Izzy” Tichenor death has been ruled as suicide. Izzy’s death generated widespread outrage, including from Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell, who called the case “sickening.”

Izzy’s family said in a statement that they reported the bullying to teachers, as well as school and district administrators, but nothing was done to stop the harassment, the Deseret News reported. The Utah school district where Izzy was a student was recently repremanded by the U.S. Department of Justice for failing to address widespread racial discrimination of not doing enough to protect their daughter who they said was bullied for being Black and autistic.

“Nothing was done to protect Izzy,” the family said in a statement. “Children did not have their behavior corrected so the torment of this child continued day after day.”

Shauna Lund, a spokeswoman for Davis School District, said Foxboro Elementary School in North Salt Lake “worked extensively with the family” and that the administration responded appropriately to the reports of bullying. Lund declined to share any further details to uphold the family’s privacy.

Izzy’s death comes about two weeks after a federal civil rights investigation found widespread racial harassment of Black and Asian American students at Davis School District, including hundreds of documented uses of the N-word and other racial epithets over the last five years.

Black students throughout the district told investigators about similar experiences of white and non-Black students calling them the N-word, referring to them as monkeys or apes and saying that their skin was dirty or looked like feces, according to the department’s findings. Students also made monkey noises at their Black peers, repeatedly referenced slavery and lynching and told Black students to “go pick cotton” and “you are my slave.”

District officials admitted to federal investigators that their discipline data from at least four years revealed that staff treated students of color differently than white students, but the district did nothing to correct these disparities, according to the department.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama on Schedule to Speak With College Students

Michelle Obama’s next promotion tour for her book “Becoming” will focus on college students. Obama will appear November 9 at 1 p.m. with “black-ish” actor Yara Shahidi for a livestream conversation with students from 22 schools throughout the country, from Cal Poly Pomona to Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland, from where Obama and Shahidi will speak.

“I can’t wait to hear from students across our country as they navigate their studies and lives during this unprecedented time,” Obama said in a statement Monday.

“As a first-generation college student myself, I remember my own struggles to manage classes and figure out my place on campus — and I can’t even imagine how much harder it is to do it during a pandemic, when so much feels like it’s constantly up in the air. I just hope they realize that moments of self-doubt and fear are completely natural, but if we embrace those moments — if we own our stories and use our voices — we can share the very best parts of ourselves with the world.”

“We know the book has been deeply impactful for young people, especially young women, and has become a kind of touchstone,” Drake said.

New Coronavirus Plague Variant ‘Omicron’ Arrives in Europe, Sets Off Global Fears of Restrictions

JOHANNESBURG—Europe recorded its first case of the fast-spreading new coronavirus variant and dozens of countries restricted travel to and from southern Africa—where it was first detected—amid concerns that it could be more contagious than previous strains and render Covid-19 vaccines less effective.

Belgian authorities said Friday that one case of the variant had been recorded in the country. The person had traveled from abroad, was unvaccinated and hadn’t been infected with Covid-19 previously, Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke said.

7 Prayers for those in the Ministry of Government

Laws are boundaries and guidelines that, when followed, keep people safe. The law shows us that there are consequences to things we might want to do. They point us away from wrongdoing so we can live righteously. Laws are meaningless unless they are enforced. The Bible references judges, watchmen, and guards. In the same way, we have policemen to watch over us and keep us safe. Men and women choose to be trained to enforce laws and keep our lives peaceful.

What is Behind Americans’ continued fascination with John F. Kennedy’s assassination?

On Nov. 22, Showtime will broadcast Oliver Stone’s new documentary, “JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass,” in which the director makes an on-screen pilgrimage to Dealey Plaza. Earlier this month, a faction of adherents to the extremist ideology QAnon descended on the same site in the vain hope that John F. Kennedy and his son would reveal themselves to be alive and ready to right perceived political wrongs by escorting Donald Trump back into the White House. Underlying both pilgrimages was the notion that there are aspects of the Kennedy assassination still hidden, and that those revelations can help us understand and address our current political ills.

Though purportedly based on a preponderance of new evidence, Stone’s documentary treats viewers to a densely detailed, often emphatic, but entirely predictable two-hour argument that will be familiar to anyone who viewed his 1991 feature film “JFK.” These include the idea that Kennedy was killed because Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson and collaborators in the military, defense and intelligence communities sought to profit from a ramped-up war in Vietnam.

The problem with this theory is that it is counterfactual. Despite suggestive evidence of Kennedy’s intention to draw down the number of military advisers in Vietnam, no one can know with certainty whether he would have started an active ground war, as Johnson did. Such thinking fuels conspiracy theories with an entirely unprovable assertion about what might have been.

Despite the impressive depth of assassination-related research published since the mid-1960s, most writers and documentarians continue to focus deeply on a relatively narrow set of questions, including whether Lee Harvey Oswald acted as a lone assassin or if a conspiracy lay behind the president’s murder. The question, which has been asked, answered, debated and repeated time and again, is also re-adjudicated in “JFK Revisited.”

Blurring the lines between fact, fiction and pure speculation, the film also distorts our understanding of the historical record, one that is incredibly well documented. In the wake of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 – federal legislation that was spurred by the compelling but largely unverifiable theories Stone presented in “JFK” – Congress created an independent body called the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB). Over four years, its members reviewed and then succeeded in prying more than 60,000 documents from federal intelligence agencies, declassifying and making them available to researchers at the National Archives facility in Maryland. Today, the JFK Records Act exceeds 5 million documents of various types.
