Dear Danyel Ezekiel, Daniqua Grace, Danae, Danita, Daniel, Danni, Danyelle Elizabeth, Danielle Tekeela, Duran, and Kywaizia:

Children, be thankful to God for the life He has given you and be thankful for your past instead of being bitter and angry lest you allow people to gaslight you, use you, and manipulate you by complaining about the good life that God has blessed you to have, which was better than mine and your mother’s and no doubt better than theirs. All you are doing by complaining is trying to fit in with these WOKE, devilish people, even in the church, including pastors and pastors’ wives, and even in your extended family, just because you were never loved by your mother, as you should have been. True born-again Christians make the best of the bad things in life and try to make things better for others. God gives them the ability to flip their pain and use it for good. As you know, the bestselling books that I wrote, Letters to Young Black Men and Letters to Young Black Women came out of the pain of being raised in a dysfunctional religious but lost family where the wife led and rebelled against her husband, and the husband let her do so, which created hellacious chaos constantly in the family. One of your jobs in life is to be better than your parents, so do not be mean and hateful to your siblings or others just because your mother was unloving and mean to you. Whatever you may hate about your mother, don’t be that way towards your siblings, your children, or others. As I have told you all before you left home as grown adults, I would rather you not give me any more grandchildren if you are going to treat them in the unloving fashion your mother treated you. Whatever you may hate about your father, don’t be that, unless you know it is right. Don’t let people in the past, people in the present, or people in the future destroy your relationship with the Lord through pride, rebelliousness, evil, and foolishness. As the Bible says, do not let “evil communications corrupt good manners.” Jesus Christ is your standard and your example. Follow Him, obey Him, and be like Him.

THE CHRISTMAS STORY CONTINUES: Luke 2:21-25

Along with prayer and passing out Gospel tracts, the main thing we did to honor Jesus Christ for Christmas was read the Christmas story, preach the Gospel on Christmas Day, and have a good Christmas celebration meal but not as big as Thanksgiving. A VERY SIMPLE CHRISTMAS. I have precious memories. I hope that you do too. Precious memories are one of the greatest benefits of living for the Lord. The Christmas story continues:

Luke 2:21-25:

21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

What Christmas Is About

“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it.” — Isaiah 9:7

As we look at our world today, we realize that part of the promise of Isaiah 9:6-7 has not yet been fulfilled. The Son has been given. The Child has been born. But He has not yet taken the government upon His shoulders. We do not yet have peace with judgment and justice. But the good news is that there will come a day when Christ will return. He will establish His kingdom on this earth. And it will be the righteous rule of God himself.

Before Jesus could take the government upon His shoulder, He had to take the cross upon His shoulder. Before He could wear the crown of glory as King of Kings, He had to wear the shameful crown of thorns and give His life as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. The first time, a star marked His arrival. But the next time He comes, the heavens will roll back like a scroll, all of the stars will fall from the sky, and He himself will light it.

Christ came to this earth. God came near to you so you can come near to Him—to give your life purpose and meaning, to forgive you of your sins, and to give you the hope of heaven beyond the grave. Christmas is not about tinsel or shopping or presents. Christmas is not about the gifts under the tree. Rather, Christmas is about the gift that was given on the tree when Christ died there for our sins and gave us the gift of eternal life.

Billionaire Bill Ackman is continuing his campaign for the removal of Harvard President Claudine Gay over her handling of campus antisemitism, arguing she’s cost the university significant funds.

Gay, 53, survived a scheduled meeting of Harvard’s board on Sunday amid calls for her removal, but her future at the Ivy league institution remains uncertain after her disastrous congressional hearing.

In the letter sent by Ackman to his alma mater and posted to X on Sunday, he claimed Gay’s testimony was not just a matter of character but they were costing the school money.

President Gay’s failures have led to billions of dollars of cancelled, paused, and withdrawn donations to the university,’ Ackman wrote.

‘I am personally aware of more than a billion dollars of terminated donations from a small group of Harvard’s most generous Jewish and non-Jewish alumni,’ he added.

‘I have been copied and blind copied on numerous letters and emails to the University from alums who have written scathing letters to Gay and/or the Board withdrawing donations.’

Ackman accused Gay of ‘doing more damage to Harvard’s reputation than anyone in the university’s history.’

The billionaire demanded the university’s board of directors review Gay’s history, including accusations of plagiarism, and of discriminatingly against those that don’t fit the look of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Ackman said: ‘As Dean, Gay showed no respect for basic American legal principles when she fired Harvard Law School Professor Ronald Sullivan as residential dean for taking on the legal defense of Harvey Weinstein. President Gay should hope that someday when she needs counsel, she will be able to obtain quality representation for herself.’

Ackman also mentioned the case of former Winthrop House faculty dean Ronald Sullivan, who in 2019 accused Gay of dismissing him from his role because of his work on Harvey Weinstein’s defense team.

The law professor, who was the first black dean of a Harvard school, accused Gay and Dean of the College Rakesh Khurana of lying about their motives for dismissing him when they claimed it was because he fostered a toxic work environment.

‘The actions were cowardly and craven and Dean Gay and Dean Khurana just consistently and repeatedly lied to the student body and they know better,’ he said, according to The Harvard Crimson.

‘Their problem was that I represented an unpopular person… They said it to my face and other senior members said it to my face and then they turned around and lied to the student body.’

Harvard has denied the decision was because of Sullivan’s work with Weinstein, which sparked protests on campus. Sullivan remains a law professor at Harvard.

In his letter to the Harvard board, Ackman also cited Harvard’s plummeting in the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression College Free Speech Rankings since Gay took over. While the school has never been high on the list, it reached its worst-ever ranking, landing at the very last spot.

The foundation said: ‘Harvard completed its downward spiral in dramatic fashion, coming in dead last with the worst score ever: 0.00 out of a possible 100.00. This earns it the notorious distinction of being the only school ranked this year with an ‘Abysmal’ speech climate.’

Gay, a professor of Government and of African and African-American Studies, was inaugurated as Harvard’s first black president back ink July. She has taken interest in DEI policies and created the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.

Ackman claimed ‘the actions of the OEDIB have led to preferences and favoritism for certain racial, gender, and LGBTQ+ groups at the expense of other groups, and made some members of the Harvard community feel included at the expense of others that are excluded.’

The billionaire was accused of racism when he suggested Gay had only been hired because she matched the DEO profile.

In his latest open letter, he said: ‘I was recently accused by several bloggers and other commentators of being a racist when I shared that the board, in the search process that led to the hiring of President Gay, would not consider a candidate for president that did not meet DEI criteria.

Harvard President Claudine Gay has denied plagiarizing work during her academic career amid mounting pressure to step down after her disastrous congressional hearing.

In a statement to the Boston Globe on Monday, Gay said: ‘I stand by the integrity of my scholarship. Throughout my career, I have worked to ensure my scholarship adheres to the highest academic standards.’

It comes after billionaire hedge fund boss and Harvard alum Bill Ackman shared accusations of plagiarism made against Gay by bloggers Christopher Rufo and Christopher Brunet, who claim the Harvard leader lifted identical wording for her 1997 dissertation.

The 53-year-old is facing intense scrutiny after she failed to condemn anti-Semitism in a shocking exchange before NY Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik on Capitol Hill last week.

Gay replied that it depended on context whether calls for the genocide of Jews at Harvard constituted harassment and violated the rules.

University of Pennsylvania Liz Magill is the only one of the three ivy league presidents to have stepped down following their testimony last week – but pressure is mounting on Harvard to let go of Gay.

While pressure is mounting on Gay to resign- with two billboard trucks replaying Gay’s testimony around the Harvard campus and demanding her firing – she appears to have the university’s institutional support.

The Executive Committee of Harvard University’s Alumni Association announced their full support for the scholar, and asked the school’s governing boards to publicly back her, according to the The Harvard Crimson.

The group wrote: ‘President Gay is the right leader to guide the University during this challenging time… She is thoughtful. She is kind. She is resolutely dedicated to the growth and wellbeing of our very diverse community. We recognize that there was disappointment in her testimony this past week. President Gay has pointed this out and apologized for any pain her testimony caused–a powerful demonstration of her integrity, determination, and courage.’

On Sunday, bloggers Rufo and Brunet accused Gay of using nearly verbatim language from authors Lawrence Bobo and Franklin Gilliam, as well as scholar Carol Swain.

However, Harvard professor Lobo, one of those allegedly plagiarized by Gay, told the Boston Globe: ‘I find myself unconcerned about these claims as our work was explicitly acknowledged.’

Generally, Harvard’s institutional groups seems to be standing by Gay.

More than 640 Harvard faculty members signed a letter in support of Gay, urging the school to resist calls to fire her, describing the attacks against her as ‘politically motivated.’

Harvard legal scholar Lawrence Tribe, who previously slammed Gay’s testimony as ‘deeply troubling’ told CNN he signed the petition because “once external pressures, whether from ultrawealthy donors or from politicians pursuing their ideological agendas, override the internal decision-making processes of universities, we are on the road to tyranny.”

The association’s move follows an open letter by Ackman to Harvard, his alma mater, accusing Gay of ‘doing more damage to Harvard’s reputation than anyone in the university’s history.’

Ackman, on his part, demanded that the university’s board of directors review Gay’s history, including accusations of plagiarism, and of discriminatingly against those that don’t fit the look of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

Ackman also mentioned the case of former Winthrop House faculty dean Ronald Sullivan, who in 2019 accused Gay of dismissing him from his role because of his work on Harvey Weinstein’s defense team.

‘The actions were cowardly and craven and Dean Gay and Dean Khurana just consistently and repeatedly lied to the student body and they know better,’ he said, according to The Harvard Crimson.

‘Their problem was that I represented an unpopular person… They said it to my face and other senior members said it to my face and then they turned around and lied to the student body.’

Harvard has denied the decision was because of Sullivan’s work with Weinstein, which sparked protests on campus. Sullivan remains a law professor at Harvard.

In his letter to the Harvard board, Ackman also cited Harvard’s plummeting in the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) College Free Speech Rankings since Gay took over. While the school has never been high on the list, it reached its worst-ever ranking, landing at the very last spot.

FIRE said: ‘Harvard completed its downward spiral in dramatic fashion, coming in dead last with the worst score ever: 0.00 out of a possible 100.00. This earns it the notorious distinction of being the only school ranked this year with an “Abysmal” speech climate.’

I want to thank each of you for wishing me a happy Spiritual Birthday as you have done down through the years. I want to thank each of you for being with me on most of my Spiritual Birthdays down through the years and for all that you did for me on those birthdays, which was a culmination of all we had done that year for the Lord together. Thank you, especially for all of the handwritten Spiritual Birthday cards you wrote me on my Born-again Birthday, which are included in the beautiful book Dear Papa: Letters to My Father that you children put together with Danita Evangeline Whyte as the editor and compiler.

Always remember the times I read to you from The Purpose-Driven Life, and the first statement in the book says, “It’s not about you; it’s about the Lord.” If you can remember that in life, you will remain a very happy servant of the Lord, and you will have peace that passeth all understanding, joy unspeakable, and the cheerfulness Jesus Christ talked about when He said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Keep your mind stayed on the Lord, and He will keep you in perfect peace. So again, I give God the glory, praise, and honor for allowing me to see my 44th Spiritual Birthday, Preaching Anniversary, and my 36th wedding anniversary, which was all done by the power and grace of God and with the help of each of you children. Thank you very much, and I love you all.

THE CHRISTMAS STORY CONTINUES: Luke 2:16-20

Along with prayer and passing out Gospel tracts, the main thing we did to honor Jesus Christ for Christmas was read the Christmas story, preach the Gospel on Christmas Day, and have a good Christmas celebration meal but not as big as Thanksgiving. I have precious memories. I hope that one day you will too. Precious memories are one of the greatest benefits of living for the Lord.

HOW TO FIND HOPE ON A LONG SILENT NIGHT

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.” Luke 2:8-9

I sit alone near the window at the end of a long December day, my weary frame wrapped in a wordless sigh and a plush red blanket. The wintry woods beyond the glass are as quiet as my children who sleep down the hall.

Moonbeams mingle with the twinkling lights of our Christmas tree, and starlight waltzes with the shadows on the floor.

I take a deep breath and seek solace in the silence. But my heart refuses to rest in the hallowed hush.

For years, when my wee ones filled the nights with wails, I dreamed of a quiet like this.

But what I didn’t know then — when my midnight hours thrummed to the rhythm of sniffling sighs and colicky cries — is that children aren’t the only ones who can fill the night with clamor.

Sometimes the quiet quakes noisy, too.

Doubts drowned out by the drone of the day can resurrect with a ruckus in the lull of night. Fear can run wild when our feet finally slow. And worry can howl reckless in the hush.

It’s in the quiet where we often come face-to-face with our questions:

Do I really believe that God is good?

Does He truly see my needs and hear my prayers?

Do I trust Him enough to obey when it doesn’t make sense?

Will His promises hold firm even if my hope falls short?

It’s in the quiet where we learn to fight for faith.

So, I shift my eyes from that twinkling tree to the Bible on my lap. And I read aloud from those treasured pages.

“That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. ‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said. ‘I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior — yes, the Messiah, the Lord — has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

God’s Word dangles in the air like the velvet stockings hanging hopeful on my mantle. I close my eyes and try to listen to the truth of Scripture rather than the squall of my own soul.

I imagine the Hope of Heaven landing on the dust of earth … the squeals of fright and the blaze of light. The angel’s declaration and the shepherds’ consternation.

And I ask Jesus to show me something new in this familiar account of the very first Christmas.

Then all at once, I see it through a haze of grateful tears:

The message the angels proclaimed on that Bethlehem hillside long ago didn’t just change the course of one bygone silent night.

The good news of great joy changed the course of every silent night to come. Because we don’t have a God who merely pierces our darkness. We have a Savior who lingers beside us on our long silent nights.

The prophets foretold it. The angel repeated it. And His name confirms it. God is with us.

And in His presence, we can find everything we need when the quiet quakes noisy.

Dear Jesus, thank You for sticking with me whether I’m full of hope or full of fear. I’m glad my doubts don’t diminish Your love and my qualms don’t offend Your faithfulness. Teach me how to rest in Your presence when my heart is unsettled. I want to trust You more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
